Exquisite Corpse
2007-ongoing
Exquisite Corpse is a collective game in which hand-drawn images of creatures are randomly assembled, creating unpredictable results and combinations. In Steak Zombies, a series of workshops, participants draw the images. Thus one imaginary character will be created by a least three people: one person draws a head; another draws a torso; and a third draws the legs. The drawn parts are then crafted into doll parts, for assembly into the Exquisite Corpse creatures. In an interactive installation at the workshops, the drawn heads, torsos, and legs are also collected in the Steak Zombies Fruit Machine. The Fruit Machine spins the drawn parts like the drums of a slot machine until halted by the pull of a cord, resulting in countless combinations of imaginative 2-D creatures.

To do and not do with the Nintendo Wii
The Japanese Wii Safety Manual has recently been interpreted by WiiBlurb. Here is an excerpt:
"When trying to commit suicide with the Wiimote, wrap the chord around both sides of the neck."
"Do not fall in love with the Wii. It will scorn your love and leave you a broken man"

Toys to sew
Fuzzy Felted Friends by Saori Yamazaki.
Recently I have started crafting objects, dolls, and sewing stuffed animals. My goal and challenge being to design like Anano.
I bought the book Softies : Simple Instructions for 25 Plush Pals. I don't regret it, the explanations are awesome, the illustrations beautiful and the patterns easy to follow.
I also bought Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts! and received it yesterday. The book is really cute, but it requires starting crochet. The book offers beginner crochet lessons, and it seems so easy! it is well organized as it starts with lessons, with examples and outstanding pictures of cute creatures, and finishes with pattern methods.
If you are already into crochet, her other book Lacy Crochet seems a great choice.
The books that I pre-ordered are Toys to Sew: Dozens of Patterns for Dolls, Animals, Doll Clothes, and Accessories.
Sweet Needle Felts: 25 Projects to Wear, Give & Hug
Little Felted Animals : Create 16 Irresistible Creatures with Simple Needle-Felting Techniques by Marie-Noelle Horvath. If you have any outstanding craft book you recommend, let me know!
Finally, a magazine that keeps me going in crafting is CRAFT: Transforming Traditional Crafts, a magazine I subscribe to and that i recommend to any crafter!

Spacehopper
As part of designing interactions, Collabolla is a video game with Spacehopper balls as input devices. Designed by Jennifer Bove, Simone Pia and Nathan Waterhouse. Photo Ivan Gasparini.
Gillian Crampton Smith answers the question: “What is Interaction Design?” She discusses the ways in which people adopt technologies, and talks about the growing sophistication in the qualities of interaction design, as the concerns of the designers have matured from only worrying about usability, towards the more complex and subtle issues of subjective and cultural contexts. She talks about what you need to learn to achieve high design standards, and identifies the dimensions of interaction design languages."

Bunnies
"No other living creature features as heavily in contemporary character design and art as the humble hare. But what exactly makes bunnies so irresistible to artists, designers and illustrators worldwide? Depending on the viewers’ cultural context rabbits can symbolize anything from insanity, alertness, defencelessness, all the way to promiscuity, magic powers and utter innocence. By condensing the endless variations of the rabbit motif into one ultimate system - a perfect bunny mandala - the true nature of the beast emerges: the eternal essence of rabbit. -The essence of rabbit"

Rainbow maker
Fill your room with a dazzling swirl of rainbows with solar powered devices. These rainbow makers work anywhere there is direct sunlight. First, stick the Rainbow Maker’s suction cap to a window. Direct sunlight turns the motor, and, in turn, the Swarovski crystal rotates, creating a series of beautiful rainbows that dance around the room. The overall effect is similar to, but better than, that created by a mirror ball.
